Chainsaw Maintenance:

Logosol has considerable experience in maintaining chainsaws, having had this sawmill in operation in Sweden for over ten years. When they developed the sawmill, the big unknown was how long the chainsaw would hold up under this type of cutting situation. Now, they have the answer. Bengt Olov Bystrom, Inventor of the Swedish Mill, recently told us that, "In ten years, we have not seen one chainsaw wear out from being used on the sawmill!" According to Bengt Olov, the chainsaw is "a very rugged machine," and, "it either works, or it is broken!"

Here are the basics of proper chainsaw maintenance that Logosol recommends:

Keep the chainsaw clean

Change the spark plug regularly
Clean the air filter often
Keep the proper fuel mixture
Never cut with a dull chain
Keep the chain oiled - via the oiler

Sounds simple, doesn't it? It is! And if it will not start, after changing the spark plug, cleaning the air filter, and checking the gas, then something is broken. Take it to the shop and get it repaired. Don't try to fiddle with it, or fix it yourself, take it and get it fixed by a professional chainsaw repair shop. The fact is, these saws seldom break. Especially when they are used on the Swedish Mill.

It has been proven that a chainsaw will last longer on a Logosol sawmill than one used in forest use. On the Swedish Mill, the saw runs at a steady rpm, rather than the constant revving, and up and down use when used in the forest. A comparison would be a car that is driven only on the highway, rather than one driven constantly in traffic around town. The car driven only on the highway would last longer. In Romania, where they use the 066 saws both in the forest and on the sawmill in commercial production, they have noticed that the saws used in the forest wear out, while the saws used on the sawmill keep going.

In Sweden, Logosol resells 4-5 year old chainsaws for 2/3 of the price of a new one. Some of their owners want to trade up to a newer saw. Logosol takes these saws, reworks them and resells them. And they have a waiting line for these used saws.

Two things can make a chainsaw "sieze up". That is, the crankshaft locks, and will not turn. If you run the chainsaw without the proper mixture of oil in the gas, it WILL lock up. The oil is in the gas for lubrication for the engine, if there is no oil in the gas, then the engine will wear excessively and lock-up. The other situation that can cause an engine to deteriorate and lock-up, is to adjust it to where too much air gets mixed in with the gas. Avoid these two situations, and your saw will last a long time. Especially if used on the Swedish Mill

Another situation that is very harmful to the saw is cutting with a dull chain. Always keep your chain sharp. If you notice the bar getting hot, the saw not cutting through the wood as fast, or more pressure being needed to get it throught the wood, then stop immediately and sharpen the chain. Sawing with a dull chain will put excessive strain on the chainsaw, especially the sprocket, bar and chain. Keeping the chain sharp eliminates alot of problems.

This ease of maintenance, and the rugged, durable construction of the 066 Chainsaw, is why Logosol now offers with the purchase of each Swedish Mill, a TWO YEAR, Full UNLIMITED Warranty on the Sawmill, AND the Stihl 066 Chainsaw! No other portable sawmill on the market offers this kind of warranty. Chains, bars, and sprockets, are not covered under this warranty.
